Safety is the responsibility of every person in the supply chain and something we take personally at Primary Connect.
The Heavy Vehicle National Law was amended on 1st October 2018 so that every party in the heavy vehicle transport supply chain has a duty to ensure the safety of their transport activities.
Chain of Responsibility provisions in transport law recognise that on-road behaviour and outcomes are often influenced by the actions and undertakings of parties other than the driver.
The aim of Chain of Responsibility is to ensure that any party with the power to control, influence, prevent or encourage on-road behaviours has a duty of care to ensure their transport activities are safe.
At Primary Connect we do everything we can to ensure the safety of all road users, not just heavy vehicles. We expect our carrier partners to have a functioning safety management system in place that covers all the key hazards associated with CoR. Our safety program ensures we maintain compliance to the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) and operate in accordance with the defined Industry Master Code.
Maintaining compliance with Chain of Responsibility obligations is achieved through a program of audits against a defined and regulated industry framework. All carriers are audited and accredited prior to commencing work with us and then assessed on a regular basis to maintain or improve their standards and safety systems.
Technology and innovation play a key part in our service promise and value proposition.
We invest significantly in technology to ensure that we can operate our business as efficiently as possible, whilst making it easy and simple for our customers and service providers to interact with us.
The latest example of our investment in technology is our Transport Visibility platform. This has been designed in association with Trimble Visibility, with the aim of providing all our customers with real time visibility as to the estimated time of arrival for transport collections and deliveries.
This is a game changer in the transport market as it enables us to manage multiple transport carriers through one designated platform. This makes it easy and intuitive for our customers to access information about their transport loads in real time.
Primary Connect strives to make a difference in the communities in which we all live in.
In September 2018, we created a partnership with Foodbank, Australia’s largest hunger relief organisation, supporting the transfer of goods between their Vic - NSW food distribution centres. We now service Foodbank nationally and, by the end of 2019, will be the largest single transport provider to Foodbank.
The Primary Connect team are regular volunteers at the Victorian and New South Wales Foodbank distribution centres, supporting the team in picking and packing orders around their seasonal peaks.
In addition, the team are passionate about supporting cultural and community events, such as Dragon Boat racing on the shores of Sydney harbour to celebrate the Lunar New Year.
