Biofuel shipping trial for sustainability

15th May 2022

Across land and sea, we're working to reduce emissions throughout our entire supply chain.

Woolworths Group recently partnered with ANL on a biofuel shipping trial - the first of its kind for the Oceania region - as we work together to make ocean freight more sustainable.

Primary Connect partners closely with ANL to bring quality products to Australia and take great Australian products to the world including cereal, cooking products and snacks.

This trial was conducted on a container ship on a 42-day journey travelling from Brisbane to parts of Southeast Asia and then back into key Australian ports, running on a blend of biofuel produced in Queensland.

To date, we’ve already reduced our own emissions by 27% on the path to becoming net carbon positive by 2050 and we’re looking for ways to expand our efforts beyond our own business and make our supply chains greener too.

We’re excited to work together with innovative partners like ANL to make each link in the supply chain more sustainable for a better tomorrow.
