Woolworths’ supply chain arm, Primary Connect, has been helping rural communities in need by delivering essential COVID supplies.
On 5th August, more than 3,000 boxes of essential goods including masks, hand sanitiser and cleaning supplies arrived from Sydney to a Meal on Wheels depot in Griffith NSW. The goods were generously donated by BIG W and other businesses while Primary Connect donated the transport.
The 36 pallets of goods arrived on a B-double truck with the support of Primary Connect’s carrier partner Ron Finemore Transport.
The donation was part of charity organisation Good360’s PPE COVID campaign. Good360 is a way for businesses such as Woolworths to donate new unsold goods to charities to help Australians in need.
A Woolworths Group spokesperson said: “We are proud to donate Good360 a range of personal protective equipment (PPE) goods and equipment for their PPE COVID campaign.
“We understand some of our vulnerable community members live across the country, including in remote areas, and having access to a mask and other PPE items can be a challenge.
“On behalf of Primary Connect and BIG W, we are glad we can reach out to those in need and provide support in a time of crisis.”
Alison Covington, Good360 Founder and Managing Director, said: "Good360 is very proud to be able to collaborate with Woolworths Group to deliver PPE items, including face masks and hand sanitiser plus other essential brand new goods to Meals on Wheels for their Hampers of Hope initiative.
“The goods will be distributed to local people in Griffith and communities in the wider Riverina Murray area to help provide protection against COVID-19 in rural NSW."
