Woolworths sell more cherries during the week of Christmas than any other week of the year.
During the peak Christmas season until mid-February, Primary Connect+ moves around 2,000 pallet spaces for our supplier partner, Hansen Orchards. Hansen Orchards is located in the rural community of Grove, Tasmania. To prepare for their trip to the mainland, loose and pre-packed cherries are picked up by us and consolidated. The cherries are then moved in refrigerated pans across the Bass Strait to Melbourne, before being transported by road to all Australian Primary Connect DCs.
Due to the perishable nature of cherries, we use specialised refrigerated transport with a temperature of 4°C and under.
Our trusted carrier partners for the journey include SRT Logistics, Nolan’s Interstate Transport, AUSCOLD/Lineage and HPS Transport.
Pickups from Hansen Orchards are now even easier thanks to the online booking portal we have introduced for Fruit and Veg supplier partners.
